Vimeo Officially Launches Music Store (Video)

Introducing Vimeo Music Store from Andrea Allen on Vimeo. ] 

New York-based Vimeo launched its music store today, confirming rumors that the video platform would provide licensed music for its video creators [ see our story here ].

The Vimeo Music Store currently offers 45K+ curated tracks with three different licensing options. The free, creative commons-licensed music is curated and provided by Free Music Archive, while Audiosocket is providing paid music. Non-commercial licenses cost $1.99 per track and $98 for commercial use.

Sweet: Now You Can Tweet Photos Via SMS 

Twitter users can now share photos by simply attaching an image to a text message to Twitter, according to a Twitter blog post

Twitter says that more than 4B SMS messages are sent and received on Twitter each month. The SMS service is available in more than 80 countries.

Currently, the ability to tweet a photo via SMS is only available on AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Cellular South in the U.S...

StumbleUpon to Remove Blogging, Groups and Themes

StumbleUpon could be getting a whole lot more boring when the web discovery engine removes its blogging function, themes and groups on Oct. 24 to focus on "improving the discovery experience," as noted in a company blog post.

Its 15M members have been able to edit a page review's HTML and create stand-alone blog posts. But StumbleUpon has decided that it can no longer support or scale its blogging function for its members. This means no more photo-blogging...

Social Discovery Network Tagged Acquires WeGame


Four months after launching its in-house game studio, social discovery network Tagged has acquired game-discovery site WeGame for an undisclosed amount.

"The WeGame team will immediately begin to contribute to our product and game studio teams, helping extend our industry leadership in social discovery," Tagged CEO Greg Tseng said in a statement.

With over 100M users, Tagged sees games as another way for its members to meet each other. The profitable site, founded in 2004, has branded itself as a social discovery network to set itself apart from Facebook.
