Co-founder and executive chair Lynda Weinman will talk with LAUNCH founder Jason Calacanis in her fireside chat at LAUNCH Education & Kids June 26-27.

But this is not an overnight-success story. Lynda, a special effects animator and faculty member at the Art Center College of Design, founded the company with her husband Bruce Heavin in 1995 (see her full bio here).

They started as a physical school teaching web design, moved into the CD/DVD-ROM business and survived the dot-com crash before focusing exclusively on online video -- all before broadband was commonplace and YouTube was created.

The company was bootstrapped until January '13 when Accel Partners, Spectrum Equity and Meritech Capital Partners invested $103M. Lynda.com is using the cash to support international growth, broaden its content areas and scale its video platform.

In addition to individual members, lynda.com's clients include more than half of the Fortune 100 companies, 31 US state governments, all branches of the US military and all cabinet-level departments of the US federal government.
